Sony's out in force here at the 3D Entertainment Summit here in Universal City, Calif. with representation by several key execs from
our consumer products and digita cinema systems business groups.
Yesterday there was a panel on how digital/3D will be
coming to a cineplex near you in the short term (90 percent of all digital
installs in the past year were driven by 3D, acording to Joe Peixoto, president of worldwide cinema of Real D).
Sony's Andrew Stucker added that we have 11,000 installs
in AMC and Regal cinemas planned over the next three years.
What's more, Sony's latest 3D movie, "Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs"
opens nationally this Friday.
Please keep an eye out for media coverage on this summit
as 3D continues its rise toward mass adoption and appeal.
